Special Events Volunteer
A few times a year Indigo Arts Alliance produces flagship events such as Black, Brown + Indigo, an African Diaspora Film Festival, and the Welcome Table: Art, Resistance, and Resilience, a full day of public engagement activities ranging from symposiums, artist talks, workshops, and performances. These events are large in scope and require all of our effort to pull off successfully. These events only succeed because we rely on a large crew of volunteers to handle many aspects of the day. Tasks are often specialized but include coordinating, set up decor, helping with workshops, etc.. These events are a lot of fun to participate in but require focus and attention to detail. We need knowledgeable, outgoing, sociable folks to represent us and help draw in sponsors and generally get the word out.
Community Outreach Partnerships
We are heavily engaged with our arts community and cultural institutions in Maine. A core principal of our mission is to serve as a pipeline for artists to gain exposure through our partnerships with The Maine College of Art, The Portland Museum of Art, The Immigrant Welcome Welcome Center, SPACE and more. Additionally, we participate with youth organizations offering art workshops that we bring to area schools and centers.
Office Assistance and Marketing Opportunities
These positions are typically internships for college students. They help support our Managing Director and Board of Advisors. We can always use help on the administrative end. This calls for someone with computer skills. Help with research, collecting press clippings, sending out press materials, social media postings. Basic graphic design skills are helpful.
