Aminata Conteh

Aminata Conteh

July 5 - August 5, 2021

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Aminata Conteh is Metalsmith whose practice hybridizes the histories and traditions of Metalsmithing & Jewelry with basketry weaving. Her work draws inspiration from the collapsing histories that exist between her lived experience as a first generation American and her Sierra Leonan lineage.

Conteh graduated with a BFA in Metalsmithing & Jewelry from Maine College of Art in May of 2021, is the recipient of a 2021 Wingate Lamar Fellowship from the Center for Craft, and has been an intern with Indigo Arts Alliance’s since the beginning of 2020.
