Candice Gosta (b. 1998, New Haven, CT) is an interdisciplinary painter living in Maine. Gosta earned a BFA in Painting from the Maine College of Art & Design in 2020. Their practice combines traditional paint mediums with collaged elements such as textiles, paper, glass, dried flowers, dead insects, dirt, and hair to depict tangible emotional experiences of girlhood and its precarious nature. Gosta has been invited to participate in the SPACE 538 Artist-In-Residence program and attended the Monhegan Artist Residency on Monhegan Island. Gosta is a 2022 recipient of the Maine Arts Commission Fellowship in Visual Arts, a 2025 recipient of the David C. Driskell Fellowship & Black Seed Studio program, and a 2025 Kindling Fund grantee. They have exhibited at 82Parris, Lights Out Gallery, Creative Portland, Treat Gallery, SPACE, and Maine College of Art & Design. As a public artist, Gosta has created and co-led several large-scale murals throughout Portland, ME, integrating luminous colors, environmental symbolism, and narratives of community and belonging. They are co-curating SEEN≠HEARD, an upcoming group exhibition set to open in July 2025 at the Portland Public Library.
