Danielle Arroyo

June 5 - June 30, 2023

Danielle Arroyo is a multidisciplinary artist residing in Portland Maine. Her practice is guided by the seasons, and involves working with the natural world, specifically with florals and fungi. A florist by trade, Danielle is a forager at heart. In late summer and autumn, she collects local wild mushrooms to create delicate spore prints, which she later frames. The rest of the year she is creating floral installations, working in horticultural education, and soaking up as much sun as possible. her work is informed by her experience as a queer, mixed race, woman living with the grief of losing her mother at a young age to addiction and breast cancer. Last year, Danielle tested positive for having BRCA1, and has been drawn to investigating the relationship between genetic mutations, generational trauma, and breaking curses.
