Minoo Emami
June 3rd - July 1stMinoo Emami, an Iranian multidisciplinary artist, brings over three decades of experience to her rich artistic journey and is deeply committed to art practice, teaching, and exhibition. A first-generation college student, she made the transformative leap from a self-taught painter in the U.S. to formal art study in 2015. Exploring themes of trauma and gender equality, Minoo weaves moving narratives in her multidisciplinary art projects, with a particular focus on the nuanced experiences of women in patriarchal societies like Iran. Shaped by her life in post-revolutionary Iran during the Iran-Iraq war, including enduring eight years of city bombings, her work captures the resilience and challenges of women navigating such environments. Minoo’s impactful creations have garnered widespread recognition, finding a home in esteemed institutions such as the Newport Art Museum in Rhode Island, USA, and Lettre International in Berlin, Germany. She extends her expertise by engaging in talks and workshops at universities and institutions across the U.S. while contributing to academia as a teacher at William Joiner University in Bristol, RI, and online platforms.
